Warriors of Life

Urukha remarked, after we departed the gnoll tunnels, that it was a hard to admit when you need someone. My reply was that we are warriors of life, and that we are designed to endure the trials that it brings.

Some warriors fight their enemies in the open, with blades drawn and armor bloodied. Some fight their battles with pen and paper, poring through tomes in order to connect obscure facts, and produce new knowledge. And still others examine the intricate bonds between people. To preserve or sever those connections through counsel, command or subterfuge.

Then there are those whose greatest challenge is existence. For them nothing is given, and everything taken. For them, death is both victory and defeat. Salvation only comes from the acceptance of others, even if it is just one.

Just one.
